About This Site

This is my workbench (above). I'm a tech guy, but I'm also a burgeoning woodworker. In 2009, I started my personal blog at johnwargo.com and published 603 posts over the years (as I write this article). This blog is all about woodworking and my woodworking projects.
It all started with my father
After the Korean War, my father used funds from the GI Bill to build out his workshop. He wasn't a finish carpenter, but he and I spent a lot of time in the shop working on all sorts of projects. He owned a tremendous amount of Craftsman tools, and I've used most of them.
My father's long gone, but I still cherish his tools and the skills he taught me.
Here's some photos of my Father's original workshop.

Back to me
When my father moved to an assisted living facility, I purchased his house so I wouldn't have to move his workshop. Many years later, we moved to Charlotte, NC and I had to pack it all up and move the shop to a new state, state, and house.
Charlotte doesn't have a lot of basements, so I had to build a dedicated garage for my shop. Now 16 years later, I've replaced most of the big power tools (table saw, band saw, jig or scroll saw, etc.).
Why this blog?
I've learned a lot over the years, and even posted 8 woodworking posts on my personal blog. I'm been spending more and more of my free time "making sawdust", so I decided to split woodworking topics out into a separate blog (this site).
The first thing I'll do is migrate the 8 posts from my personal blog over to this site. Next I have a lot of new posts I want to write. I also plan on writing product reviews, describing my experience(s) with some of the tools you may want to purchase. Finally, I plan on creating a YouTube channel and record demonstrations.
Stay tuned!
